对整体结构系统所取之参考座标系，称为大域座标系(global coordinate system)或称系统参考座标系(system reference frame)。相对的，对应一元素所取之参考座标系称为局部座标系(local coordnate system)，或称元素参考座标系(element reference frame)。门型刚架之XY轴为大域座标系，梁元素之xy轴为局部座标系。梁元素之端点位移uj, j＝1, 2, 3，称为元素座标(element coordinates)或称元素位移(element displacements)。门型钢架之节点位移 qα, α＝1, 2,…6，称为系统座标(system coordinates)或称系统节点位移(system nodal displacements, global nodal displacements)。
